Antenna and rotator control

  • Automatic tracking of satellite passes performed concurrently with automatic image capture.
  • Automatic control and parking of rotator.
  • Graphical and numerical display of rotator position.
  • "Track geostationary" parking mode to allow LRIT/HRIT capture (requires Dartcom XRIT Ingester software) between passes, including satellites in inclined orbit.

Automatic image capture

  • Automatic calculation of pass schedule covering up to 15 days, with parameters including satellite selections, time windows and latitude limits, plus manual editing facilities for complete control.
  • Fully automatic image acquisition, with data transferred from receiver rack via USB and stored on disk at full 10-bit resolution, including all channels and header data.
  • 24-bit preview image displayed live and stored in archive, with map overlays, for rapid review of captured images.
  • Graphical display of satellite position, ground station position and swathe (area of coverage) of satellite passes.
  • Ground station position, time and date updated automatically from GPS receiver, with automatic reprediction of satellite passes.
  • Station Ground Processor delayed capture mode (for SeaWiFS delayed decryption licenses, for example).

Automatic post-capture processing

  • Archiving of up to 99 raw HRPT, CHRPT and SeaWiFS images, with each type stored in a separate archive if desired.
  • Automatic decommutation, calibration and sub-sampling for display and processing in the Dartcom iDAP and MacroPro software.
  • Automatic exporting of HRPT images to NOAA level 1B (versions 1, 2 and 3) and SHARP level 1B formats.
  • Automatic conversion of raw images to other raw file formats.
  • Automatic creation of SeaDAS level 0 file from SeaWiFS data.

Diagnostics and maintenance

  • Automatic downloading and updating of prediction data from the Internet via a dial-up, proxy or direct connection.
  • Password locking to prevent unauthorised tampering.
  • Weekly rolling archive of log files showing all activity, with e-mail alarms for serious events (SMTP server required).
  • Facilities for using the optional Dartcom HRPT simulator module to test the functionality of the receiver rack modules.
  • Full manual control of rotator with detailed diagnostics displays and facilities for calibrating and checking rotator offsets.
  • Sun tracking mode for quick verification of rotator calibration.
