Data input

Decommutation and calibration

  • Decommutation and automatic calibration of raw HRPT and CHRPT images.
  • Display of preview of image to be decommutated, with map overlays and grid lines.
  • Selection of all or part of a raw image to decommutate.
  • Selection of any or all of the image bands (or channels) for decommutation (5 bands for HRPT, 10 bands for CHRPT).
  • Manual specification of calibration limits if required, with display of statistical analysis graphs.
  • 8-bit (for sub-sampling) or 10-bit (for exporting) data output.
  • Automatic repair of invalid lines if required.

Sub-sampling

  • Sub-sampling of decommutated 8-bit Dartcom HRPT and CHRPT images for processing as iDAP image documents.
  • Display of preview of decommutated image to be sub-sampled, with map overlays and grid lines.
  • Selection of area to sub-sample using "rubber-band" box.
  • 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 sub-sample levels.
  • Full-resolution display of sub-sampled area to allow it to be examined before it is saved.

Image processing

Generation of numerical products and textual classifications from sub-sampled HRPT and CHRPT images, such as MCSST (McClain Sea Surface Temperature) and NDVI (Normalised Difference Vegetation Index) with adjustable palette settings and user-defined formulæ, plus DEM masking facilities to exclude unwanted areas (such as land or sea).

Projected data outputs

  • Exporting of decommutated 10-bit Dartcom HRPT and CHRPT data as navigated, reprojected PCI Geomatica, ERDAS Imagine or ENVI images with sun angles, nadir to pixel angles and up to six products (such as NDVI, SST and LST) as required.
  • User-defined map projections and export settings.
  • User-defined product generation formulæ.
  • Dynamic adjustment of image channel enhancement.

Other data outputs

  • Exporting of decommutated Dartcom HRPT images to NOAA level 1B (versions 1, 2 and 3) and SHARP level 1B formats.
  • PCI vector file creation for exporting custom vector graphics.
