DartCam
Below is the latest image from the Dartcom webcam (DartCam) at 50.57°N, 3.94°W (SX 628770) facing North, 369 metres (1,210 feet) above sea level on Dartmoor. It’s updated every 10 minutes, and the image will refresh automatically every 5 minutes. The camera has low-light capability so at night it may look lighter than it actually is.
The Camera
For those interested, we now use a finely tuned Hikvision DS-2CD2386G2-IU 4K outdoor camera to provide the DartCam photos. We retired the old Olympus SP-500UZ indoor digital camera (and Pine Tree Computing’s Camera Controller software) on 6th May 2025. This was the second SP-500UZ and over its 13 years, 2 months and 5 days of almost-continuous operation, it took around 693,216 photos!
The Tree
Since around 2003, a beech tree in the old webcam view has been growing slowly and apparently gained many fans. When the camera was replaced in May 2025, the new webcam view unfortunately wasn’t able to include the whole tree, so we’ll endeavour to update the photo below every so often instead.
