DartCam

Below is the latest image from the Dartcom webcam (DartCam) at 50.57°N, 3.94°W (SX 628770) facing North, 369 metres (1,210 feet) above sea level on Dartmoor. It’s updated every 10 minutes, and the image will refresh automatically every 5 minutes.

May 6th: We’ve upgraded the DartCam with 4K resolution, a wider field of view and night vision! We’re glad to hear so many of you liked the tree in the old view. It’s partially visible on the right of the new view, and if that isn’t enough there’s a photo at the bottom of the page.

The Camera

For those interested, we now use a finely tuned Hikvision DS-2CD2386G2-IU 4K camera to provide the DartCam photos. We retired the old Olympus SP-500UZ digital camera (and Pine Tree Computing’s Camera Controller software) on 6th May 2025. This was the second SP-500UZ and over its 13 years, 2 months and 5 days of almost-continuous operation, it took around 693,216 photos!

The Tree

Since around 2003, a beech tree in the old webcam view has been growing slowly and apparently gained many fans. The new webcam view unfortunately wasn’t able to include the whole tree, so we’ll endeavour to update the photo below every so often instead.
